Took the Main Squeeze to the US National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte yesterday. I’m continually amazed by the boat’s capabilities:
- extremely stable on end
- easy to initiate, whether in flat or moving water
- somehow still stable
- fantastic surfer – locks onto the wave
- Lots of foot room – first playboat I can wear shoes in!
- Lightweight and rigid – no foam pillars
- FUN!!!
I gave Meagan my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with a Panasonic Lumix 45-150 to shoot some photos. She doesn’t trust herself with manual settings yet, so I set the shutter speed to 1/640 sec and let the camera take care of the f-stop. The below images have not been developed or altered in any way, and I’d like to think they turned out rather well:
- Talking to the fishes
- Another splat
- More splats. For Boyle!
- Splatting with my eyes closed
- Preparing for a big stroke through the hole
- Surfing the wave below S-Turn
- Surfing Biscuits & Gravy
- Look at the bottom of my kayak! In the pool below bridge drop
- Getting reckless in the Main Squeeze
- Halfway through Action Alley at the USNWC
